Soleil has been recovering from her brain surgery for 12 days now. After the removal of a 4.5 cm tumor, Soleil developed posterior fossa syndrome, hydrocephalus, had a feeding tube placed, has gone down for frequent MRIs, and is connected to multiple IV fluids and drains. Despite all these setbacks, Soleil is continuing to get stronger day by day with the help of her strong parents May and James and the power of prayer. She continues to work with speech, physical and occupational therapy daily. So far she has been able to sit herself up in bed, laugh at jokes, string a few phrases and words together, but most of all SMILE.
Today, Sunday April 24, 2016, Soleil went in for an Endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV), for her hydrocephalus. Post-operatively Soleil developed a 103 fever with some facial and extremity twitching and doctors are working on ruling out seizures. The doctors diligently assessed Soleil and had her down in MRI in a matter of minutes. Labs were drawn and they all came back within normal limits, MRI results didn’t show any acute changes and Soleil has been a trooper through it all. According to May, Soleil is still laughing at little jokes and eating. They plan to do an EEG tomorrow morning to assess for any seizure activity and until then they have her controlled on anticonvulsant medication. Please continue to pray and keep Soleil, May, James, and Mason in your daily prayers! We thank you all for your continued support and prayers!!
