May the 4th Be With You

Thanks again Nico, Rudy and KT from Tribal Theory for serenading our Sunshine Girl and her mommy as she celebrates her 38th birthday!

It was soothing to hear “My Roots,” and definitely heartwarming to hear “No Woman, No Cry,” since Soleil typically has breakfast with Marley playing in the background.

And yes, “…everything’s gonna be alright!” Thank you for brightening our day and singing as #SoleilsSoldiers

Lil’ Miss & Her Hats

As we wait for the green light on Proton Simulation, Soleil continues to catch sun rays and participate in physical, speech and occupational therapy during the day.

Tonight, they’ll be doing an EEG to assess brain activity and rule out seizures. How cute is she, lookin’ like a Cirque du Soleil character with her head wrap?!

We are also waiting on additional CSF results from St. Jude’s. Please continue to send up your 🙏 s fam and friends!

Portacath and LP This Morning

This morning Soleil will have her portacath placed (central line) and a lumbar puncture done to test her cerebral spinal fluid.

Child Life was here early this morning to show Soleil, James and May exactly what will happen during the procedure, and what to expect after the procedure.

Please pray cytology comes back negative from her LP and that she has no complications during or after placement of her portacath.

Sunshine Girl Has Landed In SD!

It’s has been a roller coaster of a ride for the Toledo family. We are thankful for all your prayers and support!

After diligently working hard and sending up prayers to get Soleil, May and James back to San Diego.. They are finally here!!! We are happy to be reunited with all our family to offer them even more support in her recovery!!

Welcome home Sunshine girl!!!

Outlook: Sunny!

Our family would do anything for our sunshine. Many thanks to Soleil’s grandparents for the airlift. Angel MedFlight picked up Soleil, May and James from Seattle Children’s and they were directly admitted to Rady Children’s. When May was holding Soleil on the ambulance stretcher, just before boarding the jet, a ladybug landed on her shoe, a good sign everything will be ok!

They arrived at Rady Children’s and Dr. Crawford met and walked alongside them to their room. He is everything Dr. Leary mentioned and has a calm, confident and caring demeanor.

We are over the moon to be reunited and have them home!

Sunshine Amidst Seattle’s Gray

James and May are so incredibly blessed and thankful to have had the exceptional, quality care for Soleil at Seattle Children’s Hospital. It’s no wonder they’re ranked in the Top 10 nationwide and No. 1 on the West Coast.

It wasn’t just a hospital stay but truly a life-saving, positive experience. From the renowned Neurosurgeons, to Angie Forbes for being the ringleader, to the Social Workers who came in on their day off, to the nurses that answered their questions over and over, to the sitters that made sure May and James attempted to sleep, to the music, physical, speech, and occupational therapists -Seattle Children’s definitely shines bright.

Tears were flowing and hugs were exchanged as their time to transfer care came a little after Noon yesterday. They wish they could take Soleil’s entire team with them to San Diego.

But it is without a doubt that they know they will be in good hands at Rady Children’s. They have identical, if not similar next steps and treatment protocols to Seattle Children’s. The Neuro Oncologist that will continue with Soleil’s care has been referred several times from various medical family and friends in the field. And Dr. Leary, highly recommends her colleague Dr. Crawford, as she has had first hand experience working with him in Washington, DC. The road to recovery will take time but they are grateful the path is still clear.

Braids and a Buzz for this Babe

With Soleil’s ETV, Posterior Fossa fluctuations, suture and brain recovery, she continues to progress. Rockin’ “Coolio” braids and a buzz cut, our Little Miss Sunshine continues to warm our hearts with her bright eyes, twinkling toes, belly laughs, and yelps for “Macarons!”

Today, she cruised around the halls for the first time on a hot pink wheelchair, enjoyed some Pho and being cradled by Mommy.

May and James continually send out their thanks for your prayers and positivity – it’s what is sustaining them.

Keep the Faith

Thank you all for your continued support! We have San Diego Charger Cory Liuget #94 praying for Soleil. Please stay tuned for some Charger apparel we will be raffling off to fund for Soleil’s treatments!
