Zumba for Soleil

Thank you to all those who came out to Fitness Advantage this morning! It was a great Zumba workout and turnout. It brought tears to May’s eyes at all the love, support and sweat that went into planning this fundraiser!

CBP Family Love From Vancouver

“Is it my birthday?” Soleil woke up this morning to a big box from Vancouver YVR. Thank you to James’ coworkers, kids and friends – their family away from home. Soleil was grinning from ear-to-ear with the homemade cards, toys, books, treats, and more. The Toledos thank you for the well wishes and love and look forward to extending their gratitude in person!

Post-Op Day 50: Soleil Gets To Go HOME!

Oh Happy Day! Soleil’s doctors say she can tolerate treatment and has progressed with rehab enough that she may continue the upcoming weeks of radiation, physical, occupational, and speech therapy as an outpatient. We still have a ways to go but we are counting our blessings and ever so thankful.  Celebrating our little victories and extending our gratitude for your continued thoughts and prayers. Soleil gets to go home on this FRIYAY!

Dr. Skalsky and his team have been awesome and a huge part of Soleil’s progress. We are ever so grateful for the “boot camp” rehab, three times a day, Monday -Friday.

Her Speech Therapist Miss Jen, said her favorite comment from Soleil was when she asked her, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Soleil replied, “Your boss!” -that’s our girl! Miss Jen has seen Soleil progress from no words to reading Goodnight Gorilla.

Soleil will also miss her special buddy, Jonah. The strongest and sweetest boy around! He drew Soleil pictures, raced down the hall in their wheelchairs, gave her a special flashlight, and had a play date. These life-long friends exude resilience and a bright, fighting spirit, second to none. Please, please keep Jonah in your prayers as well. Soleil prays that Jonah gets better to 100% so they can have a play date outside Rady’s!

From Crawling to Jumping to Biking!

Physical and occupational therapy goals for this past week and a half have been to strengthen Soleil’s core, crawl on all fours and continue to walk assisted – you can see our Sunshine Girl is doing more than that! Her inner motivation and strong faith are the driving forces behind her progress. We are so very proud of you Soleil! 🌟

Pre-School Love From Vancouver to Chula Vista

Concordia, Chula Vista, CA

Soleil received a sweet surprise from her very first preschool in Chula Vista. Concordia Preschool continually prays and features Soleil in their newsletter. Mr. Partch presented May and James with a very, generous and thoughtful gift basket. As Mr. Partch says, “Once a part of the Concordia Fam, always a part of the Concordia Fam!” Soleil even got story time with Mr. Partch

Swamp Willow, Vancouver, B.C.

Soleil also teared when she received the booklet of drawings, cards and pictures from her teachers and classmates at Swamp Willow in Vancouver. Along with these sentiments, classmates often send video messages and songs to May’s phone, to cheer Soleil up. She misses them just as much as they miss her!

Grandpa

(The Boys – Three Generations)

This week has been an emotional and heavy one, especially for James with the heartbreaking loss of his father. We are keeping him and the entire immediate and extended family close in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.💗

Dear God, Bless our upcoming days with turnarounds… Turn our lack into plenty. Our confusion into clarity. Our test into testimony. Lord, bless us with breakthroughs and miracles. Amen.

We’ll never forget the one who gave us so much to remember. Who sacrificed and loved so deeply. Though Soleil does not yet know of her Grandpa Jimmy’s passing, we know he is looking down and cheering his “Princess” on.

Grandmas Go Green!

Soleil’s Grandmas dressed in her favorite color – green! Thank you to Mama Gina for the support and good intentions in designing a Soleil Strong T-shirt.

Mama Cherrie also here with Team Alvarado and Mama Evelyn with Team Kaiser! Thank you for the collective support and love!

Catch them wearing these at the June 4 Zumba event. Please see Fundraising Page for details!

Soleil Has Something To Say

Mommy and Daddy have been praying for Soleil’s words to wake up before radiation begins. This very morning, while waiting for transport to the Scripps Proton Radiation Therapy Center for her first treatment…

Thank God and all of our family and friends for the continued thoughts and prayers! 🙌
